To combat this, we often process if the actions and words being used are reflective of what is felt in the here and now or is it more reflective of how those around you want you to feel? An example being apologizing! If apologizing is a automatic reaction, challenge it. Why are you apologizing? If the answer to that doesn’t align with how you feel, don’t say it lol!
